GREAT REPLACEMENT SEASON

Times are hard, many ACs are failed and had to be replaced.

Though we prefer repairing over replacing, we have had to retire many hardworking machines in April. Strangely but consistently, many of the newer counterparts are much smaller than their predecessors. At this rate, we may need 2 ACs to replace every veteran we retire.

We would like to advise all customers to take good care of your resident ACs. Make sure they are serviced in time. Many AC failures are due to the stresses of functioning under dirty conditions exacerbated by the heat.

We suspect the shrinkflation is due to the increase in material prices, especially copper. Even the same model lines from the same brands exhibit this noticeable pattern.

Due to this, replacing an old AC with a newer one of the same horsepower may not result in the same cooling capacity. A 10% reduction in AC size results in a geometric, not arithmetic reduction of both surface area (for heat transfer) and air flow volume.

This is one of the main reasons we will always try to repair whenever possible.

HEATWAVE HITS HARD

When things get hot, they get really hot. Our teams and vehicles are working extra hard to keep the heat at bay. Many fall sick, some fall sick suspiciously often, but all report to duty most of the time.

NO MORE GUESTIMATIONS

Tired of guessing where refrigerant leaks occur, our company has developed a DIY 4-point pressure test process that helps our customers with the repair decision process. The process involves dismantling the AC unit indoor & outdoor and pressurising both units together with the copper pipes in the wall. Pressure gauges are fastened on all 4 points and monitored over a few days. We charge RM350 for this process which will take from 2 - 5 days.

TO REPAIR OR REPLACE?

Over the years, this question has been given to us by many of our customers. We generally do not have a hard and fast rule to decide the answer however we would like to list out the scenarios where replacement would make more practical sense.

  • When there is a major refrigerant leak in the machine that can’t be found.

  • When the machine is more than 15 years old. (exceptions can be made for certain brands who maintain good spare part support)

  • When compressor dies outside warranty period.

  • Machine runs on R22 (refrigerant phased out)

  • Generally whenever repair costs will reach close to 80% of a new machine.

When in doubt, you may consult any of our handsome servicemen. We also prefer permanent solutions that do not require frequent return visits.

WHY WE WORK IN GROUPS OF TWO

Our work is sometimes difficult, sometimes brisk. We never know what we will face after we start our day. From the moment we finish our morning briefing until the start of our evening debrief, almost anything can happen. Due to the nature of our work, we try to always send our teams out in groups of at least two. This not only allows for faster, lighter work, it allows for the transfer of knowledge, experience and the development of office bromance. Many of our boys enjoy good relations with each other and whatever drama that does happen serve as entertainment that breaks the monotony of our days.

CHILD AT WORK

We sometimes bring children to work. Unlike our adult staff, the children do not have as many disciplinary or attitude issues. They do however require more effort going to potty.
